Success requires 100 percent effort

“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart…”  Colossians 3:23 (NIV)

Over the last two years I’ve been fortunate to have worked with a lot of Top Producing Real Estate Agents. These are agents doing between $20 Million and $60 Million a year in sales volume. I asked them all what they considered the secret to success is in real estate. I’d get a lot of different answers when it came to real estate marketing tactics. That can be expected in a competitive market like Orange County Real Estate. Some agents sent direct mail to their farm. Some worked their Sphere of Influence (SOI) to generate repeat and referral business. Some door knocked and made cold calls. Regardless of the tactic they all had something in common… THEY GAVE IT THEIR ALL. These agents are professional businessman and are committed to be successful in real estate. They understand the importance of customer service. They product high-quality marketing to build their brand. And they all give 100%. There are a lot of agents out there that try to cut corners and make a quick buck. They call themselves entrepreneurs but I call them “WANTREPRENEURS.” They aren’t committed to running a business. They want to make a quick buck and the give the industry as a whole a bad reputation. If you’re looking for a good REALTOR in Orange County give me a call. I have a few names of great agents I can share with you.

If you’re running a business and committed to giving it your all, I’d like to work with you.

Never stop learning

“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” Romans 12:2 (NIV)

We work on a lot of brand development projects and sometimes get requests to “copy” so-and-so’s look, or mimic this or that brand. The Bible tells us that we’re all unique. If you want to be a leader, you need to be an innovator. You don’t build a successful business by being a follower or participating in what I like to call “me too” marketing tactics. You business and your brand need to reflect the qualities that make you, you! Don’t do things because that’s the way they’ve always been done. Look for new solutions. They say the best leaders are readers. That’s because they’re always learning and renewing their mind. They’re being inspired with new ideas and new ways to do things better.

Check the ego at the door

“Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall.” Proverbs 16:18 (NIV)

As business owners it’s easy to get filled with pride. You’re running a business and you’re a very important person, right? I’ve seen pride and arrogance destroy many people. Don’t pretend to be an expert where you’re not. Don’t be afraid to ask for help. Hire experts to help you and trust their expertise. Don’t be afraid to let others know when you’re wrong. I’ve been in business since 1993. My preferred vendors are preferred for a reason. One, they’re good at what they do. But more importantly they admit their mistakes and own them. I don’t expect everything to be perfect every time but I do expect people to admit when they’ve made a mistake and make it right. Don’t let you’re ego get in the way of doing what’s right.
Whether you’re just staring out or have been in business for years, we’re here to help.

You have to believe in yourself

“Don’t be afraid; just believe.” Mark 5:36 (NIV)

In business, and most things, you if don’t believe in yourself nobody else will either. If you’re an entrepreneur you know this first-hand. They’re are plenty of people around you willing to offer they’re opinion and say, “it can’t be done.” You have a vision. You have a dream. Don’t be afraid; just believe. Dreams come alive when you believe in them. When you believe, others start to believe. Follow you dreams and believe you’ll be successful.

Don’t procrastinate, take action.

Whoever watches the wind will not plant: whoever looks at the clouds will not reap.  Ecclesiastes 11:4 (NIV)

When running a business, you can’t sit and wait for things to happen. You must take action. If you sit and wait for the “perfect” conditions you’ll never get anything done. “Perfect” conditions don’t exist. Make decisions quickly. Jump on new opportunities. Start the marketing campaign you’ve been putting off. There is no better time than today.

Go the extra mile

“If someone forces you to go one mile, go with him two miles.”  Matthew 5:41

Chick-fil-A has built a very successful business based on this verse. Dan Cathy explains that in the first mile you meet your customer’s expectations. It’s in mile two that you create brand fanatics by exceeding your customer’s expectations.

It’s an old thing rarely practiced anymore… customer service.

What are you doing to exceed your customer’s expectations?
